President’s foreword

Diabetes mellitus affects 5% of the French population and is a major burden for the persons living with this chronic disease, with potentially serious complications and high costs induced. Major and continuous improvements have been made for a botter understanding of the mechanisms of the disease and its complications, and for its monitoring and treatment as well.

The FFRD supports all research on diabetes.

The FFRD supports clinical, basic, and translational research.

The supported basic research projects address major themes of type 1 and type 2 diabetes

covering subjects such as pancreatic beta cells, insulin resistance, and intestinal microbiota.

The clinical research projects, on the other hand, address the themes of type 1 and type 2 diabetes, as well as gestational diabetes
